Earlier this year, an NPR series "Museums in the 21st Century" highlighted an interesting consequence of the increased focus on state standards in education. As is the case with many supplementary educational experiences, school-based visitation to museums has declined since implementation of No Child Left Behind (NCLB).

iStudy or iTest?

Last year, I (along with millions of other people) purchased an iPhone, and have been amazed at the diversity and number of available applications. Although much of the media focus has been on entertainment, lifestyle, and absolutely useless applications, my experiences at the Scheller Teacher Education Program at MIT have opened my eyes to the iPhone’s potential as an educational aid.

Including Peer-Assessment in Official Assessments

Joel AbrahamPeer-assessment, the evaluation of student work by their peers, was commonly used in my elementary and high school classes. At the university level, peer-assessment was a regular component of group projects and presentations in several of my courses.
